SHAWNEE, Ks – July 11, 2023 – PRLog – HospiceServe, an award-winning provider of end-of-life care is pleased to announce that Cindy Koss, RN, CHPN assumed the role of Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) on July 1, 2023. A dedicated healthcare professional since 2003, Koss has ascended to increasingly responsible roles, including various leadership positions in hospice care. Her extensive experience and passion for end-of-life care make her an ideal fit for this pivotal role and our mission of improving the quality of life for patients in their final stages.

A profound, personal circumstance led Koss to her purpose-driven career as she and her aunt, with the aid of a hospice team, cared for her grandmother in 1992. This transformative experience set her on the path of dedicating her life to hospice care. Despite life’s challenges, Koss graduated from nursing school in 2003, proving her persistence and dedication to her calling.
Koss began her professional journey in the ICU, quickly transitioning to hospice care Starting as a case manager, she then assisted in piloting a home-based palliative care program funded by two local insurance companies. Her career trajectory spans various sectors of hospice care, including education, quality assurance, and local, regional, and national leadership roles. Koss is a dedicated lifelong learner, holding Associate, Bachelor, and Master of Nursing degrees. She is also a Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN), reflecting her steadfast investment in her profession.
The CNO role at HospiceServe is critical in maintaining the highest standards of patient care. Koss’s primary function will be to oversee the administration of the clinical departments and monitor appropriate staffing and productivity. She will provide support to clinical managers, staff nurses, and hospice aids, ensuring they are able to offer the best service to patients and their families.
Expressing her enthusiasm about her new role, Koss stated, “I am honored to carry on the mission set forth by HospiceServe. Being part of such a dedicated team and having the ability to influence and enhance our current processes to serve more patients needing hospice is a privilege. In my eyes, life is hard enough. Dying should not be. I live, eat, and breathe end-of-life care. It’s not just a mission for me but a personal calling.”
On a personal note, Koss celebrates 11 years of marriage this year, and she is the proud mother of four grown children and a delighted grandmother to her first granddaughter.
